Sent from the Heavens to Save Us All

Super Glue is the stuff of the Gods.

Case in point. Sunday night I fixed up Mr. Mustache necklace, my ring, my shoes and my loose yellow raybans which now is loose no more. I even superglued myself. Although not intentional, it just once again provided that superglue was born from the pits of Mount Olympus.

My happiness is all because of youuuu - supergluuuuuee

Lala's Style of the Days

MONDAY: Usually my mondays are my casual days because I only have one class and I really don't need to dress to impress...but it's not like I need to impress people anways... I wore this shirt for three days and one night straight. Dirty and unsanitary I know, but does it really matter? Apart from the smells, no, not really.

I also wore my high wedges for the first time out to school. MWang has inspired me to practice strutting my stuff (har har) with high heels. They were actually not as painful as I thought they would be, but they made me feel a little awkward when I was walking.

-tunic top: $3 target
-shorts: $18 jeans from the mall that I didn't really like so I cut them even though when I first bought them I thought they were the perfect pair of jeans. Funny.
-steve madden espadrille wedges: $12 loehmanns
-bag: the icing $2.50
-my SUPER COOL ray ban yellow sunglasses of super duper awesomeness: $0.10 from a church rummage sale.

TODAY: Bacne said I dressed like the Sound of Music. I did a little yoodle for her.

-Second round for my sunglasses!
-top with little bears and balloons (it looks like a nurse's uniform): 0.50 local thrift
-lux shorts: $2 urban outfitters outlet
-suspenders: 0.50 st. vinnies
-maryjane flats: $9 payless
-belt: $2.50 wet seal
-turban/headwrap thingamajig: $1 jet rag

Looking Forward to Life

There's always something so refreshing about starting a new year. Week 1 has already passed by and I feel as if I have been at school for much longer. I realize that I get easily sidetracked with things. I've been so excited about the start of school and I've been so "stressed" (psh, I never get stressed...I'm the most carefree person you will ever meet) about catching up with reading and schoolwork that I'm already behind on, but it's okay because what is a true college experience without staying up to the wee hours of the night, or shall I say morning, to finish up that final round of econ studying or last minute essay revisions. So overall, I'm excited about life.

My rooommate, Bacne, says that it creeps her out that I'm so happy all the time. I'm right there with you Bacne. I creep myself out sometimes too.

So what's going on in LalaLand? Not much I suppose. This year I'm forcing myself to get more involved in school. I'm applying as an illustrator for our newspaper, but we'll see how that goes. I don't want to give myself too much hope because I don't handle disappointment well. I scream and lash out on the nearest person next to me so if you say a psychotic asian girl storming about, please let me apologize right now.

I'm sorry.

I'm also thinking of joining other clubs but I'm not 100% sure about them yet. I like being a hermit and would much rather spend time with my turtle, Wallace, and discuss the meaning of life than go out an socialize.

I'm just kidding. BUT, Wallace does always bring up some revolutionary points whenever we do have a philosophical debate. People think turtles are dumb and slow. They are so wrong. They're smart and slow. Like duh.

I'm also really exciting about my plans to study abroad next year. I have my eye on Europe. Right now it's between the Netherlands and the UK. It's a close race but today my interest towards Netherlands, drug capitol of the world, is winning by far. This little race chat reminds me of the times during those long standarized tests. I would pretend the little black bubbles we filled in were a ball and I got to see which team, A and C or B and D got the ball more. I think A and C won most of the time. So yeah, I am really excited about going, I've never been to Europe before so this will definately be a life changing adventure.

But we turn back to more current events, like recent impulse buys. Lately I've been addicted to ebaying, but with the start of school that little hobby of my has fortunately lessened. My first ever purchase was this Anna Sui Pink "corsette" top that I won for 1 PENNY!! Although shipping was $8.25, it still technically only cost 0.01.

My win. WooHoo!

It's a nice fit, a little shorter than the prevalent long t-shirts that have dominated for the past seasons. It is sorta reminiscent of that talked about Martin Margiela bra-on-the outside-body suit.

Style.com

Yeah, alright, maybe not. My new Anna Sui will be the poor man's version. But I think it looks cooler.

I also recently went to Target, again. My dad had to get flea medicine and dog food for dear ole Tyke and I volunteered to come along even though deep down I had the secret agenda of heading over to the clothing section. This time the 75% off racks were filled with lots of new selections and this is what I picked up:
A nice yellow flowy tunic. I loved the color combination. Very comfy that I'm using as my PJ's right now too. Double functions rules! It cost me only $3.24. The second item is a silk slip dress from the last Libertine Go International collection. It fits really well and looks super nice even if a little lingerie-ish. I can experiment with it. For every Target Go International collection, I always buy items when they are reduced down to 75% off. I basically scour the racks looking for those oval GO tags and bring them all to the dressing room and seeing which things are actually worth buying because usally the last remaining pieces that get reduced down that much are not the best ones that people go after. So I was happy with my $9.94 dress find. I can hardly wait for the Alice Temperly one to go on sale because there are a lot of things that I like. Hopefully the ones I like are the ones other people don't like because then I can get them at a fourth of the orginal price. This is how I think - like a big fat cheapskate. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

Also this weekend I binged on a nonstop marathon of the Fashionista Diaries. I was happy I found the show on abc.com. All the episodes are online for your enjoyment right at this very moment. I must say the show sucks. The assistants, especially Bridget, got on my nerves a lot. But I kept watching anyways for two reasons:

1. For Mandie Erikson, the ultra b*tch of a boss that made me cringe and laugh at the same time.

2. For Nicole, the noob assistant who declared Juicy Couture as her favorite designer.

If you have nothing better to do with your life, you should check it out. If you have something better to do with your life, you should still check it out.

This weekend I also finished up my online portfolio. Finally, I can cross that off my list of things to do.

More updates to come. I promise.

Just a warning though. Sometimes I forgot I made a promise, so please don't hate me.

The Beginnings of a Krav Maga Master

You are now offically reading the fashion blog of a soon to be Krav Maga master. You are now also probably thinking what the heck is "krav maga"? At least, that was what was floating around my messed up mind when my friend told me about it. I like to think that other people think like me. It makes me feel like less of a strange freak, which is okay by me. After the initial "WTF???" and the "huh?" and the "can you repeat that?" and the "is that a person's name?" she told me that it was a form of self defense for real life situations AND it's the technique they use for the Israeli military. Self defense? and Israeli militants? I was totally down for it. If you don't already know, you probably don't because there are only a few readers out there *wink wink - hey guys!* that know and understand my deep desire to be a karate or anything martial arts-esque master. Let me take you back to my childhood....

As a child, I wanted to be the Next Karate kid, you know the movie with Hilary Swank? I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I still need to find my own Mr. Miyagi to teach me how to wax on and wax off. In the movie, she almost gets hit by a speeding pizza delivery man but saves herself by doing some "leaping lotus tiger position" move that I found very awe-inspiring. Hey, I was like only 6 back then. I get influenced by everything way too easily...still do. Well to make a long story short:

1st grade first day of school. mom walking with me to class. cross street. car coming. thought it wasn't going to stop. about to do move. until mom stopped me. my hand slammed against the hood. driver looked at me funny. finished crossing. went to class and learned how to write the letter A in cursive.

That was not the end of my karatekid journey. I took a self defense class during sports camp. Sadly, my training was cut short by a broken collar bone due to my unskilled toubling skills. Now one bone is more pointy than the other. Great.

Despite my the failures as a master of the martial arts, my dream of becoming a world class fighter has still not left my soul. Luckily for me, my friend told me about the krav maga lesson they were having at the gym today. It may not be karate or other ancient asian arts, but it is cool to me nonetheless. I get to kick people in the groin! woohoo!! Our lesson today was short rather introductory, but I did get to kick and punch and punch and kick. It's good to get my aggression out. I have a lot of it. GRRRRRR...see?

So you still don't really know what krav maga is? You can either google it up or take a look at the pictures below:

That will be me in 8 weeks. I'll be the one kicking, not flying.
Me now. Creepy men watch out! I'm gonna krav maga your buttocks!
While I am now on the way to becoming a street fighting guru, I am still the same ole Lala at heart. A week has already gone by and now it's already Monday. Scratch that it's now Tuesday. Over the weekend I made some things for M Wang since it was her birthday yesterday. First up was this "Ghetto Superstar" shirt inspired by her ghetto fabulous-ness....

Then I made her a "cheesecake brownie" except it turned out to be more of a burnt creamcheese over brownie cake. Still good though, I think...just wait, I'll find it untouched by week 10. Now that would just break my spirit. The pretty pro egg tarts were by Beckster. They were delish.

I went home on the weekend not expecting to do much however my dad surprised me by taking me thrifting. He was nice. Usually it's a big fat "SHUT UP!" followed by a "NO!". I was about to pay for my stuff until he told me he had locked himself out of the car. It was my old time favorite thrift store's 5th saturday of the month's 50% off sale. Not that big of a sale, but to this store, I guess it is because they rarely have those. It seems that now I can't let a week pass by without getting some thrift action. God, I am way addicted.
Here's my loot:
Cowboy boots - $7.50, a little pricey but i LOVE boots. I bought all my cowboy boots from this thrift store. Third pair BABY!
Random Crocheted Squares: $0.25, I will do something with it. I'm thinking more head jewelry.
Belt- 0.25; Tie-0.50, for this season's collegiate chic; Leather Clutch-0.50, because it had a cool flippy mirror in it.

I always tell myself that I need to stop, but then I tell myself that I'm a collector of fashion so then I don't stop.

I really should be doing some work. Despite being only the third day, the quarter system is really fast paced. I waste too much time, first of all because I can never seem to make decisions quickly. I was debating whether to go to the gym or not today because I wanted to catch up on my list of things to do. With all the time it took to decide I could have gone to the gym, ate some food, and taken a nap. I might be exaggerating just a bit, but I am so indecisive. I even called my mom to ask her what I should do. She told me that I'm an adult and have to make my own decisions. Thanks for the help mom. and I'm NOT an adult. I don't think I even have the maturity of a 13 year old. I then did a little bit of errand type work online. Ate sushi. Visited friends dorm. Wasted time walking to a building to make an appointment for counseling when they only do same day appointments and they were all full. Did one thing on my list of things to do (I have 8 things). Went krav maga-ing. Ate dinner for a long time. Played Nintendo DS. Showered. Watched Desperate Housewives. Now I'm blogging when I could have spent the hour reading up on "Accounting for Partnerships".

Shoot. I should sleep. 8 o clock classes are no fun.
