A Model Life

TLC's A Model Life has replaced my ANTM fix during the summer and I must say that I no longer care about Tyra Banks and her wannabe "models". But today, I say goodbye to the show by watching the finale.

I'm so happy for the three girls: Lucia, Valeria, and Abby for getting the next contract and I am one who never feels emotion towards people on television. The three were my favorite girls of the show and I am in love with Lucy because she is just so frickin adorable and has the most amazing eyes. She's such a sweetheart I love it when she says "girls" in her lovely Slovakian accent. I want her to be my friend.

My google skills suck because I can't find any good pictures. While a Model Life is over, hopefully the girls are successful in this tough industry.

Inked

From what others see me from the outside me and tattoos would not seem like a good match. Polar opposites would be more like it. I'm the quiet innocent girl and tattoos just scream punk! rebel! bad*ss! But ever since I started watchin Miami Ink, I've had this strange attraction towards tattoos and the people covered in tattoos. Tonight I caught the premier of LA Ink where Kat Von D who I believe is an amazing artist opens her own shop. Some of the best tattoos are like works of art and it makes me want to get one but...

a) i can never stick to one thing forever so most likely I will change my mind

b) i can never make up my mind so I wouldn't know what to get or where to get it. The arm? but then what if I can't wear short sleeves in the corporate world? The back? but what if I only want it there certain times?

c) i don't want it to be permanent which kind defeats the point

d) i'm too scared of needles

e) inked skin doesn't sit too well with the parents

I really admire Kat's personal sense of style even if it is quite different from my own, that is if I even have one, I'm so schizophrenic at times that I seem like multiple people. I especially like her little stars or spots around her eyes they look really cool. But also I think those TLC (i'm a big TLC buff) commercials for the new show have brainwashed me. The song is really catchy and I love the whole pin-up theme going on. There's Pixie, what a catchy name, her friend who helps her around. I like her style too except her split tongue and these two pierces in her cheeks which kinda weird me out. Then there's these two awesome chick tattoo artists Kim and Hannah. I really like their colorful works and if I were to get a tat it would be a coloful one that makes me smile when I wake and see it everyday and realize that I can't erase it with soap and water. And there's this other guy who's cool too but it's all about GIRL POWER! So spice girl-esque.

You don't have to have the "tattoo lifestyle" or that certain look to rock them. I've admired the styles of certain quirky fashionable gals such as Tricia of Bits and Bobbins and her baby wardrobe remix and Gala Darling over at ICING. I love how their personalities are expressed their their body art. Very colorful, matches their colorful styles to a tee.

Perhaps in my past life I was a tough chick with a hardcore rockband! But for now, I just stick to my stuff pandas and rainbow colored clothing and admire the tattoo lifestyle from afar.

The Office

I guess I am a little late hopping on to the bandwagon, but I seriously love The Office. I've heard great reviews from my friends, but never actually watched it. Maybe it was because I didn't have much tv access this year. But this week, with the help of fanpop (the best place to watch shows that youtube took off), I've been having an The Office marathon in my room while working on my website and tshirt designs. The characters are so funny and seem like real people with really weird and interesting personalities.

My biggest fear in life would be ending up working at a place in the office selling paper or being trapped in a cubicle. Sometimes I imagine myself running a chic office and then I imagine all the chic designer clothing that I wish I could wear! Being a fashion schizophrenic, I've fallen in love with some of the trends for FW. A little different from my colorful tastes.

A Week of Sex and the City

I think I've overdosed on SATC......and I've never felt better.

After frantically searching for online episodes, I finnally found my best friend - fanpop.com. For my first week of break all I have been doing is cleaning my room while watching Sex and the City. It's a bitter sweet feeling - the bitter being that I finished the series and the sweet being my room is finally clean! But then again, I could always rewatch all the episodes again and it will give me a second chance to drool over Miss Carrie Bradshaws scrumptious outfits and her killer shoes. When I first watched SATC on tv, I think I was too young to really appreciate her lovely style. I was more fixated on the distinct personalities of each of the four gals. My favorite was always Miranda. But now a second-time-around, I love all the characters and can't wait till I save enough money to buy the DVDs so when I have my own apartment, I'll spend my single gal life watching Sex and the City.

*Sigh*, I wish I could afford such lovely pieces of clothing.

I Have Nothing to Wear

Ah, Friday nights are the best. It's the end of a long week (actually, I've not been doing much since it's summer time). For some people it's date night, for others it's go out and party until we pass out night. But for me, it's a night for me and my guilty pleasure of watching TLC's What Not To Wear. Yesterday, I missed the episode but instead found a new interesting show called I Have Nothing to Wear.

The concept is really interesting and rather common sense - shop within our own closets! Why go out and spend hundreds of dollars when we can just look into our closets, see what we have and come up with all new different looks and ideas. Some of the clothing gets put in the "look book" where the stylist creates three different looks around one piece and others go to the "chop shop" aka the place where the fashion "prodigies" hack up and recreate the ugly and the ill-fitted items into one of a kind couture pieces! Most of the redesigners are FIT students and they are mentored by a FIT professor kind of like a Tim Gunn in Project Runway kind of way. My mom even said they sound the same.

Hmm, maybe now I should stop shopping and buying and start looking within my own closet. That would be a tough challenge, but I'm will to take it on!
